ok go

I'm totally stealing this from another blog today, but since MTV only plays videos at 6am now, blogs and forwarded emails are really the only way we see videos anymore. But I loved OK Go even before the infamous treadmill video. And I know that is soooo hipster to say you liked a band before they were popular. But whatever, this video is insane. Enjoy. :)

happy st. paddy's day!

This Irish blessing always makes me think of my mom, who drinks a cup of hot tea in her chair by the fireplace pretty much year-round. And in honor of her Irish heritage, which makes me probably 1/8 Irish, I thought I'd share with you today. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

May you always have
Walls for the winds,
A roof for the rain,
Tea beside the fire,
Laughter to cheer you,
Those you love near you,
And all your heart might desire!

saving Greenville

It looks like the block of restaurants and bars in my neighborhood that were burned last week will be saved!

too busy with work to workout?

Not anymore.

I mean, you just have no excuse anymore, right?

This really is for sale at an office supply store in downtown McKinney. But you might want to hurry...I only saw one left...

update on our lucky shoe!

I was able to rescue the shoe! I just asked the cop on duty and I'm sure everyone on the patio at Blue Goose thought I was crazy, but it just had to be done.

you know you're an auntie when...

they ask you if you want a rewards card at Toys 'R Us.

And you say yes.

the 3/50 project

On the heels of the fire in my neighborhood, I thought I'd post this concept project. It's such a simple, yet novel idea.

Thanks to the power of the internet, we can shop anywhere, anytime. And I'm so guilty of this because I love Etsy. Like a lot. At least with Etsy I do feel good about supporting independent business owners.

But whether a business is shut down by fire or lack of patrons, it's always a shame to see them go. My favorite boutique, Ciel (on Greenville) closed a couple of years ago and there have been countless others since. And as someone who still dreams of owning her own boutique/antique store someday, I not only want to support businesses in my neighborhood, but get the word out so others can, too.

Here are three of my favorites:

Lula B's Antique Mall instead of Etsy

Good Records instead of iTunes, Target, Amazon

Pearl Cup instead of Starbucks

And realistically, I won't be able to give up my addiction to Etsy or the convenience of iTunes or Starbucks, but at least it's a start.
